Para los que aun no logran asimilar esta reunión, aquí les dejo esta entrevista donde se aborda lo ocurrido, la primera que realiza la banda para anunciar su regreso y su próxima presentación en julio del año entrante.

Para esta fecha, ya es más que conocido el añorado regreso de BLUR, uno de los grandes pilares de la música de los noventas, quien junto con Oasis, encabezara la década pasada el movimiento musical denominado Britpop.

La música de Blur, al igual que la de Oasis, bien puede ser cuestionada por su valor artístico frente al comercial, su relevancia social o la importancia del britpop junto a géneros contemporáneos a él como el grunge, sin embargo, nadie puede negar que Blur marcó una época, y aun hoy representa un referente obligado para muchas otras bandas.

El retorno de Blur viene a significar una reconciliación con aquella década, una nueva oportunidad de enmendar los errores o de mejorar lo que de pronto pensamos era imposible corregir, ¿Por qué? La respuesta es sencilla, Blur resurge de la reconciliación de sus miembros, de la nueva oportunidad que se han dado de tocar juntos y de la posibilidad de brindar a sus fieles seguidores, una explicación luego de una abrupta separación.


Graham Coxon y Damon Albarn, ambos miembros fundadores de la agrupación, lograron superar sus diferencias y antepusieron por encima de todo problema su amistad, tras haber protagonizado en los últimos años, un riña que estaba destinada a convertirse en una separación tan legendaria como la de The Smiths; como si se tratara de una pareja de divorciados que intentara entender lo ocurrido en su relación, Coxon y Albarn celebraron una serie de citas y reuniones para aclarar sus diferencias, las cuales al final concluyeron en una reconciliación mas que anunciada.

Quizás para aquellos que no son fans de la banda, les sea difícil entender la relevancia de esta reunión, y la verdad es que esto es comprensible, más ahora que festivales como el Glastonbury o el Coachella nos traen cada año el reencuentro de bandas que ni pensamos se volvieran a juntar, haciendo de estos acontecimientos algo bastante común; sin embargo, la reunión de Blur marca un hito en la historia de la música británica, y así queda patente con la portada de NME de este mes, donde aparecen Damon y Graham dándose un abrazo fraternal, abrazo, que como ya lo dije, viene a representar una reconciliación con el pasado, y una tregua con la juventud que se nos escapa.
